Privacy policy

Sleek Data (https://data.sleekpublishers.org) is operated by Sleek Publishers. This policy explains what we collect when you use the service, why, who processes it for us, how long we keep it and how you can have it deleted. We handle personal data in line with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.

What we collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, phone number and password. Passwords are stored only as a one-way scrypt hash; we cannot read them.
  • Case material: files you upload (proposals, questionnaires, instructions, datasets), the study settings you confirm and the analysis plans you approve.
  • Generated outputs: datasets, tables, scripts and reports produced for your cases.
  • Payment records: the M-PESA confirmation code and the phone number you paid from, the amount and the package it was for. We never receive your M-PESA PIN or card details.
  • Security records: failed sign-in attempts (email address and time) to block password guessing, and single-use verification and password-reset codes, stored as hashes.

How we use it

  • To run your cases and produce the outputs you request.
  • To verify your email address, reset your password and tell you when a payment is confirmed or could not be confirmed.
  • To match M-PESA payments to packages and keep a record of what was paid.
  • To protect the service against abuse.

We do not sell your data, show advertising or use analytics or tracking cookies.

Who processes data for us

  • Hosting: the site, database and files run on a server we rent from Contabo in the European Union.
  • Email: account and payment emails are sent through Resend.
  • AI features: only when you choose them. “Review documents with AI” sends selected passages of your uploaded documents to Groq. The qualitative and mixed methods studio sends your topic, research questions and participant profile to Groq, or to NVIDIA if Groq is unavailable. Simulated quantitative datasets and analyses of your collected data are computed on our own server.
  • Payments: you pay through Safaricom M-PESA directly; Safaricom’s own terms and privacy notice apply to that payment.

How long we keep it

  • Uploaded files stay with their case until you delete them.
  • Generated packages can be downloaded for seven days, after which the files are removed from the server.
  • Account details are kept while your account exists. Payment records are kept after deletion of files so that payments remain traceable.
  • The database is backed up nightly to the server and to a private offline copy; backups are replaced in rotation.

Your choices and rights

  • From My history you can permanently delete a case’s uploaded files only, or everything: uploads, generated data and analyses.
  • You can ask us to show, correct or delete your personal data, or to close your account, by contacting us on WhatsApp.
  • Your browser stores your sign-in token and unsaved drafts locally. Signing out removes the token; clearing site data removes drafts.

Security

The site is served only over HTTPS. Downloads use signed links that expire, results stay hidden until a package is unlocked, and repeated wrong passwords or codes are blocked.
